Chinese Herbal Medicine
Research has shown that certain Chinese herbs, as used in our fertility treatments, have a strong anti-Oestrogenic and some anti-Androgenic and anti-Oxidant properties. These properties have proved capable of reducing the chromosome abnormality in women’s eggs and in men’s sperm, so improving the egg/sperm quality. Since it normally takes time for a patient to benefit from Traditional Chinese Medicine, we recommend starting treatment before embarking on any assisted fertility treatment.
At The Zhai Clinic we use a combination of many herbs, derived from the leaves, flowers, roots, stem and seeds of plants. Each herb has individual healing properties that vary depending on the combination of herbs it’s used with.
The Chinese herbs come in different forms and your prescription will be changed from time to time depending on your progress and needs at each stage of your treatment.
Tablets are the classic form of Chinese herbs, and are especially easy to take if you are travelling since they don’t require any preparation.
Granules are prescriptions specially formulated and prepared solely for The Zhai Clinic, and are suitable for most of our patients. Simply dissolved in hot water, they are drunk twice daily.
Dry raw herbs need to be mixed with water and boiled up to make a herbal decoction (tea). We use herbs when the fixed form of the granules and tablets are not suitable and where we feel it is necessary.
A natural, safe form of treatment
At The Zhai Clinic we use only the highest quality herbs, dispensed under strict supervision and produced by one of the most reputable herbal manufacturers. Many herbs have been used in medicine for over 1,000 years and when prescribed and used appropriately, they are perfectly safe and have very few side effects.
