Chinese herbs – a natural form of treatment
Many Chinese herbs have been used in medicine for over 1,000 years. At the Zhai Clinic we use a combination of over 300 herbs, derived from the leaves, flowers, roots, stem and seeds of plants to make up your highly personalised prescriptions. Each herb is believed to have individual healing properties, which vary depending on the combination of herbs it’s used with.
Since we feel it normally takes time for a patient to benefit from Traditional Chinese Medicine, we recommend starting treatment before embarking on any assisted fertility treatment.
Taken as herbal tablets, granules or tea
Your herbal formula can be supplied in tablet form, as sachets of herbal granules or as dry herbs, which can be made into a tea. From time to time, your prescription will be changed depending on your progress and needs at each stage of your treatment.
Herbal tablets are the classic form of Chinese herbs, and are especially easy to take if you are travelling since they don’t require any preparation.
Herbal Granules are formulas specially made and prepared solely for The Zhai Clinic. Suitable for most of our patients, the granules come in convenient sachets, two to be taken each day. To prepare, simply empty the sachet contents into a cup, add 200ml of boiling water, stir well and then drink warm. Instructions are also written on the sachets.
Herbal tea is made by adding water to dry raw herbs and then boiling it up to make a herbal decoction (tea). Dry herbs are used when the fixed form of granules and tablets are unsuitable and where we feel it necessary.
The highest quality herbs
At The Zhai Clinic we use only the highest quality herbs, dispensed under strict supervision and produced by one of the most reputable herbal manufacturers.
Obtaining your herbal medication
Your herbal medicine can either be posted to you or you can collect it from the clinic after your appointment. If you prefer to have the medicine posted to you, it’s best to provide a company address, as the parcel needs to be signed for.
What to do if you don’t receive your herbal medication in the post
Herbal medication should be delivered to your address within 2-3 working days. If you haven’t received it within this time, which very occasionally happens, please contact The Zhai Clinic on 020 7486 8438 or email: info@zhaiclinic.com. We’ll then be able to give you a customer reference number for you to contact your local parcel delivery service.
Important information
The herbal medication has been individually prepared for you. For the safety of our patients, we can’t offer refunds once it’s been prepared.
If you’re suffering from flu, a cold, cystitis, infection or any other physical change, you must stop taking the herbs immediately until you have recovered - except when you have been advised otherwise.
